Crampons (grips) for snowshoes
SORRY WE
ARE SOLD OUT FOR THE SEASON.
A
regular pair of traditional wooden snowshoes has one inherent
problem---the flat bottomed shoe is very slippery. So, trying to walk on
ice, or up an incline, can be very difficult. What many snowshoers need
is a little more grip to the snow.
To solve the problem, we've come up with a crampon kit. After bolting a
crampon to the underside of each snowshoe you'll have that extra bit of
traction you need to reduce slippage.
Pictures speak louder than words so have a look
below, you can click on any image to enlarge it.
Each kit contains:
-
2 - Aluminum Crampons (4.5 x 3.5 x
3/4 inches)
-
4 - Double Ply Reinforced Rubber
Gaskets
-
12 - Bolts and Washers
-
12 - Nylocks (nuts - keeps bolts tight)
"Worth their weight in gold - even though
they are made of lightweight aluminum"

Kits come with 2 crampons and rubber gaskets for protection of
both sides of snowshoe webbing

Installation Notes:
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
-
Your snowshoes should be in good shape,
installing these on OLD or dried out webbing is not
recommended.
-
At a minimum you should be using 4 bolts
per installation.
-
Bolts should not be touching any leather
webbing. This is important so the bolts do not wear through
or damage a piece of lacing.
-
Bolts should be tight so the crampon
doesn't move. (I can't stress this enough)
-
Putting
the snowshoe across the arms of a chair will give you room
to see the best fit and have access to both side of your
snowshoe.
